2008 Manzanar Pilgrimage

Manzanar Pilgrimage

On April 26th, the 39th Manzanar Pilgrimage was held.  The record attendance of 300 filled the plaza in the wilderness.  We left 7 O’clock in the morning, spent 4 and a half hour of bus and arrived Manzanar just before the program started.  Some of the speakers were Professor Art Hansen, CSU Fullerton and the author of Manzanar, Martyr, and JCC’s Mr. Bruce Kaji who was an internee in Manzanar along with other speakers.  Our vow, not to repeat this history was echoed among over a hundred Islam participants as well.

Roll call of the camps were performed in front of the interfaith memorial tower, followed by joyous Taiko beat Bon-odori.
