JAPANESE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Departure of Rainbow Students

The two surviving students, selected by the JCC 2008 Rainbow Students Exchange Program, departed Los Angels International Airport for Japan with high spirit on July 18.  The round trip tickets have been donated by Taiwan's EVA AIR this year.

Selected through elaborate screening process by JCC this year are:

Miss Asuka Jacqueline Takei, student of El Camino College, and Mr. Tommy Joseph McConnell studying at New Orleans Univ. of Louisiana majoring in biology.

The two Rainbow Students will travel through Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, etc. visiting colleges, industries and sightseeing spots. They schedule to join the Ashinaga Association's Lake Yamanaka Camping Program and mingle and exchange friendship with many surviving students from all over Japan.  Asuka and Tommy will return to  L.A. on Aug. 17.  JCC hopes that this will become their once-in-a-lifetime experience, enriching their life and they will eventually contribute the betterment of the U.S. - Japan relations
