Late Mr. Ruben Lovret was honored!

"Late Mr. Ruben Lovret was honored at the L. A. City Council, Friday, July 25th and JCC presented a plaque of appreciation to Mrs. Lovret."

City Councilwoman, Jan Perry, 9th District, moved to honor  the late Mr.
Lovret for his long time service to the City at the Los Angeles City Council meeting and presented a certificate of recognition to his widow, Mr. Dorothy Lovret, on July 25th.

JCC attended this occasion and  presented a plaque of appreciation  to Mrs. Lovret and expressed condolence for the loss of her husband while expressiong appreciation  for the great contribution and support made by Mr. Lovret in redevelopment of  Little Tokyo after the WWII.  Little Tokyo Community Council also presented a memorial gift to Mrs. Lovret.  Mr. Lovret passed away earlier this year.

Mr. Lovret was the City Planner with a background in architecture when Japanese Americans returned from the Concentration Camps after WWII.  He helped many Japanese business owners to get organized and rebuild the Little Tokyo community.  He was instlemental in re-establishing business in Little Tokyo, working closely with the Japanese American community including JCC.  We all feel very grateful for his support and assistance.

 JCC hopes that Mr. Lovret will be remembered as a true friend of Little Tokyo and Japanese Americans.
